What is Botox?
Botox® is a prescription only medication, and the administration of Botox® is a medical procedure which should only be carried out by a medical professional. All of our clients require a consultation with our nurse prescriber prior to the treatment taking place.
Botox® is used to smooth out facial lines and wrinkles on the upper face including the frown, forehead, crows feet and bunny lines on the nose, giving a more relaxed and youthful appearance.
Botox® is a brand name for the naturally occurring protein derived from the plant bacterium called Botulinum Toxin Type A.
How does it work?
Botox® is a muscle relaxing treatment, it temporarily deactivates the nerve impulses in the muscles preventing their natural contraction. This results in the overlying skin becoming smooth and wrinkle free.
What are the benefits?
It only takes 2-3 days for the Botox® injections to begin to take effect and approximately two weeks for full effect to take place when results will be seen (although this will vary slightly from person to person). The skin appears dramatically smoother, facial lines and wrinkles will appear softer and may gradually disappear over time. Due to the temporary deactivation in muscle contraction the creation of more wrinkles is also prevented. Clinical trials have shown that 90% of women and men feel that their lines and wrinkles are reduced one month after treatment.
How long will the Botox® last?
Botox® lasts on average 3-4 months. However many people find the results can last for up to 6 months.
Will I require a follow up?
You will be given a two week follow up ‘top up’ appointment in order to evaluate the results of your treatment. If necessary a top up treatment will be performed at no extra cost.

What products will be used?
We can use a variety of different Botulinum toxins which are all FDA approved. The most frequently used is Botox® but we also offer Azzalure and Bocouture. This is because different clients will react differently to different products so we like to have various options for all our clients.
What happens after my appointment?
You can carry on with your day as normal after your treatment. Although it is important that, for four to six hours after treatment, you do not rub or massage the area, that you avoid strenuous exercise, hot baths or saunas, do not lie flat and avoid alcohol. Though you will be given full post treatment aftercare instructions following your treatment.
Lip Flip
Lip flip causes the upper lip to evert or "flip" giving the appearance of a fuller upper lip. This also prevents the upper lip from tucking under when you smile.
Upper Face
Upper Face are the most popular areas for toxin treatments. This smooths out horizontal forehead lines, frown lines (11’s) and crow's feet lines.
Gummy Smile
Just two injection points, either side of the nostrils. This relaxes the upper lip elevator muscle to lower the upper lip, which will then cover more of the gum when you smile.
Bunny Lines
This minimises the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines that appear diagonally on both sides of your nose.
Smoker Lines
We can reduce the appearance of vertical lines on the upper lip commonly known as smoker lines. A small amount of filler or polynucleotides may also be required if these lines have become deeper over time.
Masseter muscle
This reduces the strength of the masseter muscle which helps to prevent teeth grinding and tension. This can also can help to slim the lower face.
Chin Dimpling
Chin dimpling or cobblestone chin occurs if the mentalis muscle is over contracting. 2-3 injections of toxin will reduce the contraction and smooth the skin in this area.
Nefertiti Neck Lift
A nefertiti lift is designed to improve the appearance of the lower face, jaw, and neck. This defines the jaw line and reduces the appearance of platysmal bands.
DAO
This prevents the DAO (depressor anguli oris) muscle pulling down the corners of the mouth. Treatment will cause the corners of the mouth to be slightly lifted, giving the mouth a more relaxed, happy and pleasing appearance.
Crows Feet
Soften lines and wrinkles around the eye area, providing a smoother, fresher appearance when you smile.
